Have your say on North Northamptonshire Council’s five-year housing strategy: Latest News

North Northamptonshire Counci's five-year housing strategy 2025-2030 sets out exactly what the council needs to deliver to meet the current and future housing needs.

Whilst working to support residents to have access to safe, decent and affordable homes, it is also designed to make sure the council meets its statutory obligations in the prevention of homelessness and supporting the changing housing needs of older residents.

The document sets out the council’s ambition to meet demand, offer choice, match aspirations, and provide a range of housing and tenures that are affordable for those who wish to live, work and visit North Northamptonshire.

The council is seeking feedback from residents on the following four priorities below set out below.

1. Building new homes across all tenures where people are proud to live.

2. Improving the quality of existing housing stock to provide decent, energy efficient and safe homes.

3. Preventing homelessness to ensure everyone has access to decent, safe, and secure homes.

4. Supporting people to live healthy and independent lives in homes suited to their needs.

For each priority we will are asking for your views and whether you feel there is anything missing. There is also an opportunity to give any additional comments. You can contact us by email, telephone or by post, see details below.

Cllr Mark Rowley, Executive Member for Housing and Communities, said:

“The draft housing strategy 2025-30 and its delivery plan has been developed and prepared in collaboration with the relevant service areas within the council, the Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise Sector (VCSE), professional stakeholders and local residents, to ensure that the housing related themes and issues relevant to the delivery of all aspects of housing are reflected in the strategy and inform the priorities and areas for action set out in the delivery plan.

"What we are seeking now are the views of you, our residents so please take the time to read through and send in your feedback and ideas."

Jason Smithers, Leader of North Northamptonshire Council

“This strategy is a major policy item for the council and we are keen to give everyone in North Northamptonshire the chance to share their views and contribute to the development of this strategy.

"It sets out its priorities, commitments, and delivery programme for the period 2025 to 2030 for a wide range of housing matters and very much sits within our corporate vision of creating and maintaining ‘A place where everyone has the best opportunities and quality of life.’”
